I am a merchant of the Kwong Cheung Hong Firm. There is a class of persons called Ngan Wong-tai. They are supposed to belong to the same Hop-in or Triad Society. They have signs such as the Triads are said to have.
There was a quarrel between the coolies and the Ngan Wong-tai of my firm. The quarrel was about some sapan wood, which the Ngan Wong-tai stole. Quarrels of this kind are very frequent.
